KEY, United States Senator from Nevada. Born at Vicksburg, Miss., 1872 and began the practice of law in Seattle, Wash., at twenty years of age. When the search for gold occurred in the Klondike region he joined in the movement and worked for two years as a miner. During this period he fought the corrupt governments established in many Alaskan towns and fought for the miners in the courts against attempts to defraud them of their rights. ts. In 1901 he removed to Tonopah, Nev. In January, 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate and re-elected 1917.
