Pliny (YOUNGER Herculaneum)

THE YOUNGER Herculaneum and Pompeii were destroyed, in the first year of the Emperor Titus. He wrote several works, which have perished, but his name and fame are preserved by his great work entitled "Natural History," in 37 books. It is a laborious compilation, on almost all branches of natural science, fine arts, inventions, and other subjects. It has been translated into most European languages, and even into Arabic, and has been republished a very great number of times.
