Richards (BRINLEY a British pianist)

BRINLEY, a British pianist and composer; born in Carmarthen, then, Wales, in 1819; began to study music at the Royal Academy in London about 1835; and on the completion of his studies soon won a good position in London as a pianist and teacher of music. He was for many years a professor of the Royal Academy. His compositions for sacred and part songs and for the pianoforte won great popularity, especially his "God Bless the Prince of Wales." Richards bestowed much attention on the study and encouragement of Welsh music. He died May 1, 1865.
