Rockefeller (JOHN DAVISON JR an American)
JOHN DAVISON, JR., an American capitalist. He was born in Cleveland, O., in 1874, the son of a father generally recognized later as the richest man in the world. He studied privately and at Brown University, from which he graduated in 1897. He then became associated with his father in his business enterprises and took particular charge of the philanthropic activities associated with his name. He became a director of the Colorado Fuel & Iron Co., American Linseed Co., and Merchants Fire Insurance Corporation. He is a member of the Rockefeller Foundation, the General Education Board, the Rockefeller Insti ROCKEFELLER FOUNDATION tute for Medical Research, the Bureau of Social Hygiene, and the International Health Commission. During the war he made large donations for the relief of suffering.
