Rogers (HENRY WADE an American jurist)

HENRY WADE, an American jurist and economist, born in Holin land Patent, N. Y., in 185 1853. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1874. After studying law he was admitted to the bar in 1877. He was connected with the law department of the University of Michigan from 1883 to 1891. From 1890 to 1900 he was president of the Northwestern University. In 1913 he was appointed United States Circuit Judge. He was chairman of the World's Congress on Jurisprudence and Law Reform, in 1893, and general chairman of the Saratoga Conference on the Foreign Policy of the United States, in 1898. He took a prominent part in the activities of the Methodist Episcopal Church and acted as an official of many important committees. In 1908 he was chairman of the Committee on International Relations in the Federal Council of the Churches. He was delegate to many international conferences on prison reform and other subjects. He wrote "Expert Testimony" (1883); "Introduction to Constitutional History as Seen in American Law" (1889). He contributed many articles to encyclopedias and reviews.
