Rooney
JOHN JEROME, an American jurist and writer, born in Binghamton, N. Y., in 1866. He was educated at Mt. St. Mary's College, Maryland. After five years' service on the editorial staff of the Philadelphia "Record," he was admitted to the New York bar. In 1813 he became presiding judge of the N. Y.
State Court of Claims. He was a member of several legal and Irish-American societies, as well as of the Poetry Society of America. He wrote occasional verses, the best known of which was, "The Man Behind the Guns," written during the Spanish-American War, and later published in book form under that title.
