Sharp (WILLIAM GRAVES an American)

WILLIAM GRAVES, an American diplomatist, born at Mt. Gilead, Ohio, in 1859. He graduated from the Law De Department of the University of Michigan, in 1881 1881, and for several years practiced law at Elyria, Ohio. From 1885 to 1888 he was prosecuting attorney of Lorain co., Ohio. He was active in politics and was a delegate to several Democratic conventions. In 1909 he was elected to Congress, and was re-elected successively until 1914, when he resigned on his appointment as ambassador to France. He served in this capacity from December, 1914, to April, 1919.
