BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, LIN, a United States Senator from Indiana, born in St. Joseph co., Ind., in 1857. He was educated at the Northern Indiana Normal School and at the University of Michigan. He graduated from the law department of the latter in 1886. He was engaged in farming, and was at various times an editor and teacher.
Elected to Congress in 1884 and again in 1886, he served until 1892. In 1909 he was elected United States Senator and was re-elected in 1914. During his services as Senator, he was chairman of the Committee on Pensions and was a member of the Committee on Foreign Relations. He died in 1916.
