Sorosis
in botany, a collective fruit, formed of a number of separate flowers, firmly coherent in a fleshy or pulpy mass with the thalamus on which they are situated. The pineapple is an example; each hexagonal division represents a flower, while the crown of leaves above consists of empty bracts. The breadfruit, jackfruit, and mulberry are other examples.
