ROSE, an American actress; born in Montreal, Canada. She played for many years in stock companies, and in 1897 made her first important appearance in "A Soldier of the Empire." She later was seen in "An American Gentleman"; "A Man of the World"; and "The Chorus Lady." The latter play was produced steadily from 1904 to 1911, and was successful both in the United States and in London.
