Stanley (AUGUSTUS OWSLEY an American)

AUGUSTUS OWSLEY, an American public official, born in Shelbyville, Ky., in 1867. He graduated from Centre College in 1889. In 1894 he was admitted to the bar and began the practice of law at Henderson, Ky. He was elected to the 58th Congress, and was successively re-elected until 1915, in which year he was elected governor of Kentucky. He was elected United States Senator in 1918, for the term ending 1925.
