Stanton (ELIZABETH CADY N Y Nov)

ELIZABETH CADY N. Y., Nov. 12, 1815; was graduated at Emma Willard's Seminary, in Troy, N. Y., in 1832; called the first Woman's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, N. Y., in 1848; addressed the New York Legislature on the rights of married women in 1854, and in advocacy of divorce for drunkenness in 1860; and was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress in 1868. She was a member of numerous Woman's Suffrage societies, editor of "The Revolution," and the author of "The History of Woman Suffrage"; "Eighty Years and More"; "The Woman's Bible"; and other works. She died in 1902.
