He took part in the Russo- Japanese War on the western frontier Russia, tant military posts in Russian Poland sia, and afterward held imporand on the Prussian frontier. He became Minister of War in 1909, resigning in 1915, during the World War.
He was an excellent organizer and did much to develop aviation and other branches in the Russian army. tary officer; born in Rumelia in 1840.
