a town of Hungary, on the Körös river, 80 miles S. E. of Budapest.
A famous breed of horses is cultivated here. Pop. about 28,000. Mostly Slovaks, who, however, speak Hungarian. SZASKAITE (after Szaska, Hungary, where found), an earthy variety of cal- SZE-MA amine (zinc carbonate), stated to contain cadmium.
Szatmar-Nemeti
a town of Hungary; on both sides of the Szamos; 68 miles E. N. E. of Debreczin; formed in 1715 by the union of Szatmar and Nemet. It manufactures earthenware, canvas, and slibowiz, a kind of brandy distilled from plums. Pop. about 35,000.
