Tarkington
(NEWTON) BooTH, NEWTON) BOOTH, born in Indianapolis, 1869; graduate of Princeton University. In 1902-1903 he Representatives of Indiana. His chief was a member of the State House of vocation, however, has been that of a novelist and a writer of short stories.
His first book, "The Gentleman from Indiana," appeared in 1899, but it was his TARKINGTON "Monsieur Beaucaire," published in 1900, which first gained him his wide popularity. Among his short stories the "Penrod Stories" have been most popular, on account of their quality of rich humor. Among his many works are: "The Two Vanrevels" (1901); "Seventeen" (1916); "Ramsey Milholland" (1919). Among his plays are: "The Man from Home" (1906) "Getting a from Home" (1906); "Getting Polish" (1909); "The Country Cousin" (1917); "Up from Nowhere" (1919); and "Clarence" (1919).
