She began as a child actress, and for some years toured the country, played in stock at Seattle, Washington, and in 1909 appeared in "The Devil" in New York City. Her first conspicuous success was as Luana in "The Bird of Paradise," but former roles eclipsed by her appearance in the title role in her husband's comedy, "Peg o' My Heart," which ran through over 600 performances in New York in 1912-14 and over 500 in London.
