Taylor (FREDERICK WINSLOW an American)

FREDERICK WINSLOW, an American efficiency engineer, born at Germantown, Pa., in 1856. He studied at the Stevens Institute of Technology and later employed at the Midvale Steel Company, Philadelphia, as foreman, master mechanic, chief draftsman, and chief engineer. Afterward he organized the management of several manufacturing concerns, such as the Bethlehem Steel, Cramp's Shipbuilding and the Midvale Steel companies. He has Cyc-Vol. IX had success as an inventor , patenting TAYLOR 100, and developed the Taylor-White process for treating high-speed tools, for which he received a gold medal in Paris. His works include: "Concrete, Plain and Re-enforced"; "Art of Cutting Metals"; "Concrete Costs"; "Principles of Scientific Management"; "Shop Management."
