Terraverde
a name given to two kinds of native green earth used as pigments in painting; one obtained from Monte Baldo, near Verona, the other from the island of Cyprus. The former has much more body than the latter and is very useful in landscape painting in oil colors. It is a siliceous earth colored by the protoxide of iron, of which it contains about 20 per cent. It is not affected by exposure to strong light or impure air.
