in chemistry, dalleiochin; a green substance produced by the action of chlorine and then ammonia on a solution of quinine. In dilute solutions it remains dissolved as a bright emerald green color, and forms a highly delicate test for the presence of small quantities of quinine. a solid hydrocarbon THALLENE, isomeric with anthracene obtained from THALLENE, a solid hydrocarbon the last products which pass over in the distillation of American petroleum. It THALLENE is distinguished by a green fluorescence, and, when illuminated by violet and ultra-violet light, exhibits a fluorescent spectrum containing light-green bands. a
