Thrinax

in botany, the thatch palm, a genus of Sabalidx. Calyx six- THRINAX, in botany, the thatch , a genus of Sabalidæ. Calyx sixcleft, corolla none; stamens 6, 9, united at the base; ovary one-celled, with cleft, corolla none; stamens 6, 9, or 12, a single, erect ovule; fruit round. T. leaves of which are used in Jamaica for thatch. In Panama it is made into leaves of which are used in Jamaica for brooms.
