Tiedemann
DIEDRICH (te'demän), a German philosopher; born in Bremerwörde, near Bremen, April 3, 1748. He was Professor of Philosophy in the University of Marburg. He wrote: "Researches on the Origin of Languages" (1772); "System of the Stoic Philosophy" (1777); "The First Philosophers of Greece" (1780); "Origin of the Magic Arts" (1787); "Spirit of Speculative Philosophy from Thales to Berkeley" (6 vols. 1790-1797); "Theætetus; or, Human Knowledge" (1794). He died in Marburg, Sept. 24, 1803.
