Tisdall
FITZGERALD, an American educator; born in New York city, March 15, 1840; was graduated at the College of the City of New York in 1859; tutor in the Free Academy, New York, in 1860; director of Cooper Union Schools of Science and Art in 1870; and Professor of Greek Language and Literature in the College of the City of New York after 1879. He lectured extensively; visited Europe several times; and was a member and councillor of the American Institute of Archæology and a member of the American Philological Association.
