Treitschke

HEINRICH VON, a German historian; born in Dresden, Gerhistorian; born in Dresden, Ger many, Sept. 15, 1834; was educated at Ger- Heidelberg, Tübingen, Bonn and Leipsic.

He devoted himself to the study of his tory and became Professor of History at Freiburg in 1863, and held the same chair at Heidelberg in 1867-1874 . In the latter year he accepted the similar chair at the University of Berlin . He was the author of "Ten Years of German Struggles"; "Socialism and its Patrons"; "Two Em- "History of Germany in the Nineteenth Century," which was his principal work, but was left unfinished. He died in Berlin, April 28, 1896.
