OSCAR LOVELL, an American author; born in Greenwood, Ill., Oct. 2, 1865; was graduated at the University of Minnesota in 1889, and then studied in the Universities of Oxford and Berlin. In 1892 he became connected with the English Department of the University of Chicago He was the author of "Browning and Whitman: a Study in Democracy" (1893); "The Changing Order" (1901); and many review articles. He also edited Lydgate's "Assembly of Gods" (1895); and "Selections from Prose and Poetry of Walter Whitman” (1898).
