FRANCIS, an American 7 , 1820; was graduated at Yale College in 1839, and admitted to the bar in 1843.

From 1856 to 1863 he was Professor of Logic and Rhetoric in Kenyon College, O.; in 1863 was ordained in the Protestant Episcopal Church and became rector of St. Paul's in Brookline, Mass., and in 1866 became a professor in the Episcopal Divinity School at Cambridge, Mass.
