Anodyne Plaster

Melt an ter. For chronic inflammation, colds, sore ounce of adhesive plaster, or diachylon (see throats, inflammations of the lungs, liver, and No. 5043), and, whilst cooling, add a drachm bowels, sprains, &c. Take 1 part by measure of powdered opium, and the same quantity of of mustard; 5 parts flour; and 5 of Indian camphor, previously dissolved in a small meal. Mix the mustard in a little hot water, quantity of olive oil. Spread on leather. and, when smooth, add about 2 parts boiling This soon relieves an acute local pain. Or: water, and when all is dissolved stir in the Powdered opium, & ounce; resin of the spruce fir, powdered, 3 ounces; lead plaster, 1 pound.
