Artificial Meerschaum

Artificial meerschaum may be made by immersing carbonate of magnesia in a warm solution of silicate of soda or potash for some time, or by precipitating from a solution of epsom salts by means of the silicates. &c., as the case may be (see No. 2055), is inserted in the pot and connected with the charge in the rocket case by a quick match. (See No. 2060.) The whole is finished with the clay and cap, the same as the head of a simple rocket.
