Chloride of Sodium
This is a muriate of soda, or common table salt, and is largely obtained by the evaporation of sea water, or from the water of salt springs. It dissolves in about 2½ parts of water at 60° Fahr.; is insoluble in pure alcohol; fuses at a red heat; and at a higher temperature becomes volatile.
