Mahogany Varnish
Sorted renders the varnish long in drying; copal and gum anime, 8 pounds; clarified oil, 3 gallons; amber are scarcely soluble in spirit, but are litharge and powdered dried sugar of lead, of rendered partially so by other gums, and also each + pound; boil till it strings well, then by being previously fused by heat. (See No. cool a little, thin with oil of turpentine, 5½ 2867.) Shellac gives a durable varnish, objecgallons, and strain. tionable only on account of its color, which good copal varnish is obtained.
