Infuse 12 pounds campeachy logwood in 12 gallons water; provide a funnel at the bottom of which a sponge has been placed; pour the infusion through a strainer made of coarse flannel into the funnel, and thence on to 1 pound hydrate or acetate of copper (verdigris); then add immediately 14 pounds alum; and for each 17 gallons of the liquid, add 4 pounds tion half as much iodine as first used.
