Silk Cleaner

Mix well together + pound soft soap, a tea-spoonful of brandy, pint proof-spirit, and pint water. It is to be spread with a sponge on each side of the silk without creasing it; the silk is then rinsed out 2 or 3 times, and ironed on the wrong side. (See No. 460.) Fahr. must never be exceeded.
