Backwater
To turn the blade of the oar so that the inside of the curve is towards the bows of the boat, and to effect the stroke by pushing when the blade is in the water instead of pulling, thus drawing the boat stern foremost. The usual form of the command is "Back her down," addressed to special members of the crew, or generally "Back her down all."
