Hunger-Trace

A line which appears across the feathers of a hawk that has been starved for a time when her feathers are growing down. It has the appearance of a knife mark drawn across the feather at the point where it, at the time of hunger, joined the flesh. The feathers often break off at the point where the line crosses the ribs.
