Eastern Time
Is the local time of the 75th Meridian from Greenwich. The Meridian (like all Meridians of Longitude running from one pole to the other) passes a few miles east of Philadelphia, so that Eastern time differs only 38 seconds from Philadelphia local time. Eastern time covers a strip 15 degrees wide, extending 7½ degrees on each side of the 75th meridan, reaching from the eastern part of Maine to the vicinity of Detroit, Mich. The time in Boston, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and all places in this area is the same.
