Things Not Generally Known: Terra

The goddess or plenty, represented as bearing a horn filled with fruit. Cybele. A goddess, daughter of Cœlus and Terra, and wife of Saturn. Cyclopes. A race of men of gigantic stature, supposed to be the sons of Cœlus and Terra. They had only one eye, which was in the centre of the forehead. According to Hesiod they were three in number, named Arges, Brontes, and Steropes.

Daphne. A daughter of the river Peneus, or of the Ladon, and the goddess Terra, of whom Apollo became enamored. Daphne fled to avoid the addresses of this god, and was changed into a laurel.
