Cyzicus

One of the most ancient and powerful of the Greek cities in Asia Minor, stood upon an island of the same name in the Propontis (Sea of Marmora). This island lay close to the shore of Mysia, to which it was united by two bridges, and afterwards (under Alexander the Great) by a mole, which has accumulated to a considerable isthmus.
