Son of Poseidon (Neptune) and Euryte, attempted to violate Alcippe, daughter of Ares (Mars) and Agraulos, but was slain by Ares. Ares was brought to trial by Poseidon for this murder, on the hill at Athens, which was hence called Areopagus, or the Hill of Ares.
