Tiresias
A celebrated prophet of Thebes. Juno deprived him of sight, and to recompense him for the loss Jupiter bestowed on him the gift of prophecy.
Tiro, M. Tullius. The freedman of Cicero, to whom he was an object of tender affection.
He was not only the amanuensis of the orator, and his assistant in literary labor, but was himself an author of no mean reputation.
It is usually believed that Tiro was the inventor of the art of shorthand writing.
