Commons

in Great Britain, all who are not members of the House of Lords, that is to say, the general people. In a more restricted sense, the term applies to the lower house of Parliament, the members of which are elected by and represent the commons. The House of Commons now consists of 495 members for England and Wales, 72 for Scotland, and 103 for Ireland. See Parliament; Oxford
