Eastern Star

an auxiliary order or secret society to which Free Masons and the wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, and widows of Masons are eligible. The first chapter was organized in New York in 1868. There are now twenty-eight grand chapters in as many states and over 100,000 members. The emblem of the order is a five-pointed star. See Masonry
