Ure
yoor, Andrew (1778-1857), a Scotch chemist. He was born at Glasgow. He was educated at the universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, taking his degree in medicine. He held various educational positions. In 1834 we find him settled as an analytical chemist in the employ of the board of customs at London. He is known as the author of Materia Medica, the Dictionary of Chemistry, and the Dictionary of Arts, Manufactures, and Mines.
