Escapement Error
The kind of escapement used also affects the time of vibration; for instance, it is found that, while with the recoil escapement increased motive power and greater arc causes the clock to gain, the contrary effect is produced with the dead-beat escapement. The pendulum error may, therefore, be aggravated or neutralized by the escapement error.
