Borglum
JOHN GUTZON DE LA spent in the West, MOTHE, an American sculptor and painter; born in Idaho, March 25, His early early life was sper where he studied at the San Francisco Art Association. From 1890 to 1893 he pursued his art studies in Paris. He returned to California for two years and then took up his residence in London. He spent six years there, and was elected a member of British and French art sopursued his art studies in Paris. He re- turned to California for two years and where his work speedily gained him recognition. Among his well-known works are the "Mares of Diomedes" in the Metropolitan Art Museum, New York, statues of Lincoln and Beecher and the figures of the Twelve Apostles in colossal size for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
