Hutchinson (THOMAS an American colonial)
THOMAS, an American colonial governor; born in Boston, Mass., Sept. 9, 1711; was graduated at Harvard College in 1727, and early attained prominence in the colonial affairs of Massachusetts. In 1770 he was appointed governor, and became unpopular during the conflict with Great Britain over the right to tax the colonies. In 1774 he was superseded by General Gage.
He died in Brompton, England, June 3, HUTTON
