Lynchburg
a city in Campbell co., Va., on the James river, and the Norfolk and Western, the Southern, and the mouth's landing-place (1685). Natives Chesapeake and Ohio railroads; 66 miles have been Sir George Somers, Captain N. of Danville. It is an important man- Coram, and Miss Mary Anning, the dis- ufacturing city; has several foundries, coverer of the Ichthyosaurus and Plesi- rolling-mills, tobacco factories; manuosaurus in the Lias rocks here, which factories of farming implements and are largely quarried.
