Meeanee
or MIANI (mē-ä'nē), a village in Sind, India, on the Indus, 6 miles N. of Hyderabad. It was the scene of a battle between Sir Charles Napier with 2,800 men and a Baluch army, 22,- 000 strong, on Feb. 17, 1843; the latter British loss was 256. The result of this were totally routed, losing 5,000 men; the victory was the conquest and annexation of Sind.
