Miller (WILLIAM an American religious)
WILLIAM, an American religious leader; born in Pittsfield, Mass., Feb. 15, 1782. In 1815 he took up his became deeply interested in the propheresidence at Low Hampton. N. Y. He cies of the Bible and in 1831 predicted the second coming of Christ and fixed the year 1843 as the time at which the world would be destroyed. The believers in the peculiar doctrines of this sect are now called Millerites or Second Adventists. Miller died in Low Hampton, N. Y., Dec. 29, 1849. See ADVENTISTS. a
