Remenyi
EDOUARD, a Hungarian violinist; born in Heves, Hungary, in 1830; received a musical education at the Vienna Conservatory. In 1851, after the Hungarian revolution, he was forced to flee to the United States, but returned to Europe in 1853. In 1854 he visited London, where he was appointed solo to Queen Victoria. In 1860 he obtained his amnesty and returned to Hungary, where he attained to great distinction . In 1865 he went to Paris, achieving there a tremendous success.
Thenceforth he made repeated concert tours on the Continent and in England.
In 1878 he returned to the United States, where he spent much of his time and gave many concerts. He died in San Francisco, Cal., May 15, 1898. an
