Sherrill
CHARLES HITCHCOCK, an American lawyer, born in Washington, D. C., in 1867. He was educated at Yale University and practiced law in New York, from 1891 to 1909. From 1909 to 1911 he was United States Minister to Argentina. He resumed practice of law in 1912. Besides taking an active part in politics, he was president of the Yale Law School Alumni; chairman of the Committee on Foreig Foreign Relations of the National Chamber of Commerce; trustee of St. Luke's Hospital, Tokio, Japan; of the American College for Girls, Constantinople, Turkey; of New York University, as well as of a number of numerous societies and clubs. He originated a series of international interuniversity track meets in 1894. During the World War he served as adjutant-general, with the rank of brigadier-general, in charge of the United States draft.
