Stettinius
EDWARD R., American banker, born at St. Louis, Mo., in 1865. He_was educated at St. Louis University. In 1892 he removed to Chicago, where he became an officer in various manufacturing eventually president of the Diamond Match Co. in 1909. In 1915 he organized for J. P. Morgan & Co. a department for the purchase of munitions and other war materials for the British and French governments, becoming in 1916 member of this firm. In January, 1918, appointed surveyor-general of the United States War Dewch, 1918, a member of ring concerns, becoming tactics acquired as an officer under Fredboth of which he divided with his fellow officers. He died on his estate near Utica, N. Y., Nov. 28, 1794.
